Jesus: The Liberal God Who Loves His Enemies

Jesus said some surprising things that challenge our common sense and political views.

He told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, so that we can be like our heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:44).

He also urged us to do good to those who hate us, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who mistreat us. (Luke 6:27).

He didn’t teach us to be passive or cowardly, but to be wise as serpents and fight for our rights.

  • He also claimed that we are gods, which is a very liberal idea. John 10:34 says, “Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?”
  • This is a quote from Psalm 82:6, which Jesus used to defend himself from the Israelites who wanted to stone him for blasphemy.
What did he mean by that? How can we be gods? And how can we love our enemies in a world full of violence and injustice? Find out in this article.
